But this one seemed interesting. The story is okay, with the fantasy element all over the place. However, the specially effects didn't help give this drama that really good epic quality it deserved, as they were almost fake and didn't help the actors act along them as well. The acting was nice (considering the low quality graphics) and Luhan performance was, as always, okay. My main concern was the romance that didn't have the intensity it should have, as the chemistry between the two actors was weak. Finally, the costumes were really beautiful. ![]() So, overall, 3.5 out of 10. Rewatch Value 9.0 A less tragic Nirvana in Fire meets Lord of the Rings! I writing this review with 9 episodes left (I wanna take the rest nice and slow coz I don't want this awesome drama to end). It's important to note that the drama went into production before the author finished writing the web novel, so if anything the movie version might be truer to the original work and differ from the drama. OK, enough of OT stuff, back to the core of review: Fans of Lord of the Rings will rejoice that FotD is essentially a reimagining. You have the Star Formation that gives power to the Empress that is essentially the One Ring. It is essentially detrimental to Empress (it's actually something evil that is controlling her), yet she has trouble letting the precious-s-s go. Then, there is CCS dagger-like sword that looks like Bilbo's Sting dagger. And of course the little dragon ZS is modeled after Smaug the Dragon from The Hobbit, but a good kind dragon, not an evil one. Then, when LL teased ZS with hard-to-guess riddles, that scene essentially imitated 'Riddles in the Dark' between Bilbo and Gollum in The Hobbit. Superimposed over this are scenes remiscient of Nirvana in Fire: Sick guy returns to the Capital to attain his destiny, elite guards getting murdered to frame someone, the main hero can't actually fight against powerful villains but uses his cunning to subdue them, an Imperial ruler that is cold and 'heartless' even towards her own child, etc. Nevertheless, the drama packs an awesome punch coz let's face it there is nothing new under the sun, only inspiration from some works that existed before! ![]() Aug 17, 2017. It crashed hard six years ago, right after the nuclear disaster at Fukushima, Japan, in March 2011. After Fukushima, uranium miners, processors and nuclear equipment makers sold down and have pretty much stayed down. However, the uranium industry has just begun to turn around. ![]() Short Add a Plot ». ![]() ![]() You may have even heard about it in the news lately. The takeaway, however, is that we currently have an open window to get into the uranium space near the bottom. Uranium is critical to running the world. In many countries, it literally keeps the lights on. There’s an entire investment space devoted to uranium production and associated companies that process “yellowcake” — uranium oxide — to move it through the industrial cycle. Uranium is the foundation to a multibillion-dollar global industry with immense investment promise. During its last two boom cycles, in 2004–07 and 2009–2011, early investors could have seen gains around 600% and 185%, respectively. There are three big reasons that uranium is set to turn around. The first is an increase in demand for nuclear power. 500 More Nuclear Plants Although uranium hasn’t been in the investment limelight lately, nuclear power is significant., 440 nuclear power reactors operate today in 31 countries, with a combined capacity of over 385 gigawatts of electric capacity (GWe). In 2014, these units provided 2,411 billion kilowatt hours (kWh), or over 11% of the world’s total electricity. As recently as 2015,, “13 countries relied on nuclear energy to supply at least one-quarter of their total electricity”. This represents just the existing demand for nuclear power; it’s the day-to-day “load” on the global grid. However, I recently met with key players in the energy space, including, former U.S. Senator (R-Michigan, 1995–2001) and secretary of energy (2001–05). At a dinner, I sat next to Secretary Abraham for about two hours, discussing politics, energy policy and uranium. I also had a long discussion with an individual whose professional career has been involved working with major uranium mining companies and nuclear-based electricity generators. Byron King with former U.S. Senator and Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham. Later in his career, this individual advised both the U.S. And Russian governments on uranium, up to and including respective national policy that affected weapons-grade material. He’s highly knowledgeable about uranium production and pricing from sources as far afield as Kazakhstan, Australia, Canada, the U.S. And nations in Africa. After meeting with these energy insiders, it is clear that nuclear power is increasingly coming back into demand as a global source of energy. Across the world, many nuclear plants are under construction, in design or being planned at early stages. Most new-build reactors are sited in Asia, particularly China, South Korea and India, all with fast-growing economies and rapidly rising electricity demand. ![]() May 17, 2017. Legion of Brothers. Experts in acoustics, however, say that’s a theory more appropriate to a James Bond movie. Sound can cause discomfort and even serious harm, and researchers have explored the idea of sonic weaponry for years. But scientists doubt a hidden ultrasound weapon can explain what happened in Cuba. For decades, military researchers tried to transform sound into a nonlethal weapon that could stop enemy soldiers in their tracks. “Why go in there with batons and guns when you can go in with something simple, like a sound generator?” said Dr. Ling, a neurologist at Johns Hopkins University and the former director of the Biological Technologies Office of the federal Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The Pentagon funded development of loudspeakers to deliver long-range blasts of sound. The Navy uses them to ward off pirates, while the Army deploys them at checkpoints. ![]() In recent years, police have used so-called long range acoustic devices to break up crowds like those. But these weapons work because they are insufferably loud, and if one were used against diplomats in Cuba, there would be no mystery about it. So speculation has swirled around another possibility: a device producing a sound outside the range of human hearing. ![]() One possibility is infrasound — low-frequency sound that cannot be heard by humans. A report by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in 2002 noted that the military but had not succeeded because it was hard to focus the wavelengths. The primary effect of infrasound on humans “appears to be annoyance,” the report concluded. Ultrasound is the more likely possibility. ![]() At frequencies higher than 20,000 hertz, beyond human hearing, ultrasound can damage tissue if produced with enough power. Doctors use focused blasts of ultrasound to smash kidney stones. Decades ago, researchers created intensely powerful ultrasound beams in laboratories that. Advertisement Less powerful ultrasound beams don’t cause injuries and have a variety of medical uses, including commonplace medical scans. But there’s anecdotal evidence that at certain intensities, they can make people very uncomfortable. Garrett, who taught acoustics at Penn State University before retiring last year, used to demonstrate ultrasound beams to his students. Often he would get nauseous and develop a headache; eventually he took to wearing protective gear. “We didn’t use them any more unless we not only had earplugs in our ears, but earmuffs over the earplugs,” he said. It’s difficult to get people who report symptoms to volunteer for the studies, he said. And while the military, too, has investigated weapons based on sound beyond the audible spectrum, they dropped major research projects in the 1990s. Groupers 2017. Nordic Casemix Centre.
